I wonder if it's possible to help date this photograph please to help us identify who the people in it may be? I know it's around WW1 but when? Do the clothes of the ladies give any clues?
I'm not sure who actually colourised the photograph which is believed to have been children of the Akrill family who were born and lived in Beverley, East Yorkshire, England.
Between the two solidiers sit two ladies both of whom have wedding rings on so it's possible they are their wives.
The soldier on the left appears to have two badges in his left breast pocket which may be significant (?) for soldiers who have maybe been in a particular Battle or been a POW? Was it common for soldiers to wear badges in the breast pocket?
The uniforms (wrongly coloured) don't appear to suggest any particular Regiment.
The other ladies are thought to be the sisters of the two soldiers.
The only Army record I can find so far is for Percy Robert Akrill who was born 1897 and would have been only around 16 at the start of the war .... he didn't marry until he was 26 in 1923.
Can anyone offer any advice/help please?

Hi Neil, this looks be have been taken Around the time of WW1. This would have been coloured by a colouring App, not very well either as there are areas that have been missed and the colours are patchy as :-\

This looks pre war. 1910ish.
The uniform adornments are not army issue.

I think they all have a similar look apart from girl second from right.
Could they all be siblings? Does that tally with ages, number and sex of children that you know of for this family? They look to be fairly close together age wise.

If the photo includes Percy Robert Akrill who was b.c. 1899 on the last two censuses, he would have been 11-14 if it was pre-WW1 and none of the males look to be in that age group. It must be either a different family or the photo is later than 1914.
The women's clothing suggest 1910-1914 -ish

The girl seated is only about 15. You can see her skirt is shorter, so nobody's wife.

Thank you so much everyone for your comments ... the photo has to be around 1914 ... could it be that the two in uniform were still actually at school where they also did some Army training very much like the Army Cadets of today? This may account for the 'badges'(?) in the breast pocket ... perhaps shooting/school badges (or the like )?

If the same family - the lady second from the right could be the sister Ada Elizabeth Akrill.

The girl second from right does look like Ada.
I think those two lads look to be older than schoolboys. 20ish perhaps? :-\
The three girls with their hair down will be the younger ones, Ada looks to be the eldest, followed by the girl seated at the front. Next in age may be the lad front left .... I couldn’t guess at the ages and order of the others - they all look early to mid 20s to me. :)

I've looked at the colour abnormalities and they can be restored or at least improved quite easily and while I checked it over I noticed damage and blemishes which can also be repaired and you could then have a beautiful photograph which would make a superb photoprint. Would you care to see that done? cheers, Ian

They all have ‘the same’ eyes ... specially noticeable in the restores I think. ;)

Are the British WW1 uniforms meant to be khaki colour?

Waynenort, yes they are but the automatic colouring apps, are very restrictive in what colours they use and khaki isn't one of them.

What about the Flying Corps or the early RAF, did they not wear blue ?
The jacket buttons look unusually large and metallic ... could they help to eliminate other uniforms?

I think British flying corp uniform from WW! was also a khaki colour.
Some flapped over at the front to keep out the wind. Buttons on the were smaller or covered on the second type.
