Title: Death Certificate maiden name help
Post by: nostalgiaLover on Tuesday 26 January 21 05:35 GMT (UK)
Hello all, first time posting! I need help, why does the death certificate for one of my relatives not have her maiden name on it? It is just blank, her birth certificate has her maiden name but not her death certificate, the death is just blank, she died in 2000, I am so perplexed by this.

Welcome to Rootschat.

Which country?

Obviously, her birth certificate would have been in her maiden name.  ;)

Maybe the informant didn’t know it, or didn’t bother providing it, at time of death.

Who was the informant on the death certificate?

The informant was a nurse at the care home

England was the country, it is probably because the informant didn’t know it then, as they were a nurse caring for her

Hello and welcome to Rootschat.

By the time someone reaches old age, there may well be no one else alive who knows a person's maiden name. The info is given by a friend, neighbour or relative of course(in some cases someone from a nursing home or hospital) and not by the person themselves  ;D
