Title: Christening of Nathaniel Shrubsole Smith
Post by: MattD30 on Friday 05 February 21 02:00 GMT (UK)
Hi

I'm hoping someone can double check a christening date for Nathaniel Shrubsole Smith, son of Richard and Elizabeth Smith for me.

Nathaniel was born/christened in Seasalter but I have two different dates for him

18 April 1794
13 December 1795

Both dates are on Familysearch and are recorded as christening dates. The 1794 date might be his birth date but I'm not certain.

These dates also appear the same on Ancestry as well if I am right [I don't have my notes with me and haven't checked on there today].

Hope someone can clarify which is the right date.

Many Thanks in advance.
Matt

Have viewed copies of original pages for these baptisms on FindMyPast - both shown as separate christenings.   Perhaps the first one died.

A plain Nathaniel Smith buried. 29/7/1794 Whitstable All Saints, Kent.  The two places only a mile apart.  (Whitstable can also be Whitstable cum Seasalter).

No indication on original parish pages whether any were infants and pretty sure many would have been.

Thanks Annette that was my thinking as well. I guess it seems the most likely thing to have happened.
