Joseph Clamp and Jane Greasley were my 5gt-grandparents. They married on 27.7 1772, and had 8 children.
Joseph died August 1836, age 89; Jane died in 1840, aged around 95. They're buried together.
So they were married for nearly 64 years!
But I'll bet some of you have found longer marriages than that - can you beat it?

In my direct line I have a couple who wed in July 1845, and the wife died in September 1905, so they were wed 60 years, so 4 years short of your ancestors long marriage.
Although my grandad's cousin and his wife were married 75 years but this was more recent.

I have found a couple who married in December 1683 who were married for 65 years and three months or so. James Plumer married Margaret Mathew in Chailey. Margaret died in March 1748/49 and her husband died in 1751.
Not bad going for that time! :)

In my tree I have one that lasted 76 years 4 months.
Claude and Ethel Married 3rd December 1926, Ethel died 30th April 2003.

Can’t quite beat Jebber, but I have a first cousin, once removed who with her husband Orville Bliss was married 73 years and 7 months and lived in Spokane, Washington state. She was married when she was 16 years old. ;D

Not quite as long as the previous 2 posts, but my own Mum and Dad (look left!!) 73 years 2 months.

And both still with us!
My granddaughter has my mother`s wedding dress and says she will wear it.

Some amazing responses here! Keep them coming!

My mother lent her dress to a friend during the war. We have looked at the dress a lot of times but it wasn`t until it came into my possession and my daughter looked at it, she realised the train is on back to front !!!

Suffolk must have had good air as the long standing marriages I can think of in my family took place in Suffolk. Also many did live to a good age and some had children into their late 40s.
