Hope someone can answer our enigma. I have a James George Williams born April 1915 at Llanhilleth, Abertillery Monmouthshire. (District Newport) his father was James Williams and his mother was Eunice Charlotte Watkins.
James Williams snr left the family behind in January 1921 and emigrated to New South wales, Australia, James snr sent for his two sons, James George Williams and his younger brother Thomas Henry Williams to join him at Cullen Bullen, New South Wales, (West of Sydney). Eunice Charlotte their mother had died in Llanhilleth 1926. They arrived in Australia November 1929 aboard the SS Vedic, which had sailed from Liverpool
James George Williams returned to the UK sometime between 1930 and 1940, why! we have no idea why he has decided to do this. I can only assume he was not happy there. Can anyone see if there is a mention of him on any incoming passenger lists between 1930-1940, we only have one little clue, he might have made a girl pregnant in 1936.

In what country - Australia or UK? As that would help with what date he left or returned.
A family tree has his death in 1943 buried in Rangoon??

James George Williams might have made a girl pregnant in Australia 1936 but we are not sure. However he might have returned to the UK before 1936 and that may have been because he might have been closer to his Aunt Iris (Watkins) Macfarlane who is mentioned on the Rangoon Memorial. My thinking behind this is James Williams Snr left for Australia leaving his family behind living with his wife's parents at Llanhilleth. James George (born April 1915) would not have seen much of his father James who was away on active service.
As James snr left in January1921 it would have been another 9 years before James George had contact with his father, so I believe there would have been a much stronger bonding with his maternal side of the family than with his father especially Iris who was only 7 years older than james George. James George did leave a will and it was his Aunt Iris who he left everything to and nothing to his father James.
After James George's arrival 28th November 1929 we lose him until the 1940's when he enlisted in the 1st Bn Royal Scotts Regiment, died 19 March 1943, in Burma. I have sent off for his Army records but because of the Pandemic it will take a little while.
If i can find out when he returned to this country that would be a great help

DB. Yes! very much a Bingo moment, an illegitimate boy was born in 1937 and James George's father adopted this boy. We believe that because of the shame, James George came home to England apparently the pregnant girl's parents wanted to avoid a scandel (prominent members of Society). At birth the baby was put up for adoption.
