Thomas Gutridge enlisted in January 1840 with either the 45th Regiment of Foot or the 45th Regiment of Infantry. His service number was 1667.
I have his regimental papers from FindMyPast which are dated 1858 when he was discharged. However these do not show where he served.
Would a service record be available anywhere, and would this possibly give his next of kin?
This is a topic I know next to nothing about, so would appreciate any assistance. Thanks

FindMyPast seems to have scrambled the images and indexing for that particular box of records in WO97 (Box 1529). The link for Thomas Gutridge leads to papers for a Hambling, which have a few Thomas Gutridge papers tagged on at the end, but not his Statement of Service. (The link for Hambling leads to the papers for a soldier named Hands.) To find the rest of the Gutridge papers you may have to trawl through all the images for that box using the browse facility. https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record/browse?id=gbm%2fwo97%2f1529%2f133%2f007
Alternatively, the army papers are also viewable on Fold 3 but I don't have a sub for that. Their file may be more complete.

Thank you so much. I had forgotten that I had found the ones I did by looking at the ones that came after Hambling and then found the three that I have. Brain fog obviously ::)
I shall spend this morning trawling through the link you gave.

Thanks so much for the link. Found his service papers very easily once I worked out that they were filed alphabetically.
Really appreciate your help.
