Probably a really stupid question.

Where are the birth, deaths marriages registered ?

Are there indexes available online ?

Looking just to get some year of birth for cousins.

Depends which years you are looking at -  baptisms up to 1915 are on Ancestry. After that date the indexes giving approximate dates are on the Jersey Archive site (subscription required). To get exact dates of birth you would need to contact the Jersey Registry Office but unfortunately they have been closed to researchers for the past year.
