looking for information on the early life as a mariner of Edward Gentle born in Spalding, Lincolnshire in1823 who went to sea at the age of 15 for a few years.

According to the parish entry for his marriage 22 March 1848 in Spalding to Rebecca Bales, his father was William Gentle, auctioneer. There are 3 Gentle witnesses, Wm H Gentle, George Gentle and one whose initials may be Jh C. :-\
