Title: Trying to locate death date for my aunt
Post by: dickydoremouse on Sunday 07 March 21 18:11 GMT (UK)
My aunt, Frances Catherine O'Rourke, was born in Ballinaboy, Clifden, Galway in 1916 to Thomas Augustine O'Rourke and Maria Madden. Frances moved to Dublin in her youth and I was told she had an upholstery business but I don't know where. She married in Dublin David Harnett (b.1913 in Youghal) who, I have been told, owned some grocery shops. Again, I don't know. I was led to believe that members of the Harnett family are still involved in the grocery business in Dublin. It would be good to know anything relating to them.  I am trying to find death dates for my Aunt Frances and for her husband. They were married in Sept 1939 in Dublin North. They had eight children, the last born in 1955.
I am also hoping that someone in the family may also be researching and if so they might know the death date and death place of my Grandfather, Thomas Augustine O'Rourke, born Leeds 1864, engineer, who worked in Dublin and later for Marconi in Galway.  Any information gratefully received. Thanks.

I think you have the wrong David Harnett or the wrong marriage.

His father is Humphrey on that marriage record.

Here is one with father Humphrey - quite a few years earlier

Added - maybe wrong as there is also a death  :-\

David Harnett had a brother Humphrey b 1893.

He married in Carlow in 1925 as a ‘Business Manager’ and died there in 1962 - he was a shopkeeper.
I wonder if that is the link to shops.

In reply #3, I posted a birth and added a death for that child.

Here is 1911 census, with the second David

Here is the correct  1903 birth which fits with the marriage certificate

Thank you. Frances and David had a son they named Humphrey so it was obviously a family name. I had no idea David's father was in the prison service, so that's a new find. It's also interesting to discover that there were two Davids. Thank you for all this information.
