Wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction please
Samuel Campbell (c1809 - 1886) enlisted in 1826 with the 74th Regiment in Stirling and was posted to various places. He married Margaret Tarras (1820 - 1889) in 1840 in Mullingar (according to sons birth certificate) how can I find the date of their marriage ? Also their first daughter Elizabeth was born in 1841 in Ireland, again how would I find the details. Later children where born in England and Scotland whilst Samuel was in the Army.
Thanks in advance

Did he stay in 74th regiment or could this be Elizabeths birth registration. Certificate would be available from GRO at Southport, Lancashire

Hi Rosie
Yes he was later in the 91st and that looks like the birth, brilliant thank you. So I should be able to Oder the birth certificate ?
Would you know how I would find the marriage ?

Registration of non-Catholic marriages in Ireland began 1845 and Catholic marriages 1864. Prior to those years it's church registers if they survive.
-
As Samuel was in the military would this marriage be recorded in military records as opposed to Irish records?
-
The marriage would have been in the church register.

There's a marriage register Jan. 1833-April 1860. Marriages in 1840 take up less than 2 pages.

Church of Ireland registers are listed on "Table of Church of Ireland Parish Registers Throughout Ireland" pdf. There are various editions as it's amended. You can find latest by an internet search. Many C of I registers were destroyed or badly damaged in the fire at the central records office in Dublin in 1922 during the civil war.
