Hi everyone. I am trying to find the final resting place of my uncle John James (Jack) Ryan. Born 22/01/1912 to John Ryan and Mary Shannon. He had 3 brothers Leo, Fran & Joe. He had 5 sisters. I would really appreciate any help in locating his burial place.
Kind Regards

It may be helpful if you include place or area they were from, lived and approximately when you think he past away...
That said you can search here...

Good luck with your search

As markw has said we need more information.

If its Ireland you can try at... to get DC...

Also .. if RC it might be worth checking with local RC churches as they would probably had a catholic burial..
Good Luck

Sorry about omitting where & when. I am new to this site, I put in the information then struggled to send it, had to start again and forgot, sorry. Thanks for the replies I received. The person who sent me the baptism records is spot on, that is my uncle Jack. He died in or around Baldoyle, Howth area of Dublin, I am guessing around the 1989 ish period. I am amazed at the response and help from you all thank you very much.
Kind Regards
John Ryan

He had 3 brothers Leo, Fran & Joe.
He had a fourth brother James, born 1916, died 1917 aged 10 months at Baldoyle.

Hi Kiltaglassan. Thank you for your help. Leo was my father, I have information on Fran & Joe. James is buried with his parents in Fungal. I just can't locate uncle Jack. I have all the sisters info. I am clutching at straws here, you wouldn't happen to know how I could trace my grandfather's parents. He was born in New York USA in 1878 got married to Mary Shannon in Baldoyle Howth Dublin in 1900. His father was called John he was a carpenter originally from Ireland, though I don't know what county
Kind Regards.
John Ryan.

Here are the indexes for New York State on FamilySearch......I'm not an expert on the USA. Maybe you should post a thread on the USA forum. Link to this thread (https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=846345.0)

I don’t know if this has been posted already
Here is the marriage of John Ryan and Mary Shannon
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1900/10346/5766242.pdf
John's address is 21 Charlotte Street and a witness is John Ryan
In 1901 at 21.2 Charlotte Street there is also John Ryan (different one). I wonder if there is a connection?
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Fitzwilliam/Charlotte_Street/1306272/
This John is b Limerick and his wife is from Clare but there is a Thomas Ryan from Clare too :-\
-
Well that was soon solved - John Ryan and Margaret Ryan also married in 190p - both living at 21 Charlotte Street

There is no 1890 census for New York.
1880
John Ryans b 1876-1878 in 1880 with father John. I can’t see a father who is a Carpenter but that could be a loose name for a Carpenter’s labourer, I suppose.

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it

i am relatively new to the site and struggling to to get the best out of it, having said that i have had some wonderful people from roots giving me great responses and found them really, really helpful but if i may be cheeky, what i am trying to find out is the name of my great grandmother. It is believed they originate from Ireland, though i do not know which county. Their son (my grandfather) was named after his father before him John, who was a Carpenter by trade according to my grandfathers wedding documents. My grandfather was born in New York in 1878, he then moved to Ireland, I assume about 1895 - 1899, he married Mary Shannon in Dublin, in 1900, i have found John & Mary in the 1901 & 1911 Irish census. i am trying to progress past this brick wall of who my great grandparents are and where they came from.

Hi,
You have posted this on the Resources forum :)
This is your previous thread which refers to your family. You can just continue on there.
topics merged
In reply #10 there, KG advises to post on the US forum here.
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/usa/
but link to your original thread which has all the information.
Heywood :)

No need to start a new topic (and better to pick some sort of memorable mentioning surname or something in case it gets overlooked)- advice has already been posted on the thread you started two days ago-
-
There is this family in 1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Clare/Fahymore/Fahy_Beg/366215/
John is a Carpenter and son Frank born in America
In 1901 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Clare/Faheymore/Faheymore_North/1082957/
Frank is born in Clare
The ages are a bit out for Frank and John and wife Nora is quite a bit younger than John in 1901. Perhaps a second marriage?
It is worth looking at anyway.
-
I have posted some new information on your original thread.
-
thank you for your help and patience, i am new to this genealogy, and also new to using sites such as roots, i am grateful for the help being received.
Kind Regards

Did Jack have a brother called Leo, in Baldoyle?
-
Hi dizzy
That's correct.
-
Would it be possible for replies to be posted on the original thread as given above rather than in this on the resources board please?
There is more information there and I do have some possible information but it is no use posting it until I know what you think. Sorry.
P S welcome dizzy :)
-
Thanks for that. When you say "original thread" is that family history - or should I be somewhere else? Apologies, I am wearing rather large "L" plates, but I don't want to be in the wrong place when I should be somewhere else.
Perhaps I should just scroll through and see what I can find first - truth be known, I'm not sure where to start or how to find stuff. But thanks for the welcome :)
-
Just click on the link here - it can be confusing but We love to help ;)
-
John
I think Jack lived with his sister Nan Kinnahan in Killester? around 1988?
-
I think you have found it now, dizzy. :)
-
I haven't found it on it's own. I found a link in "Family Tree" started by John1954, which I found in the Forum, under Dublin. Then I clicked on a link that took me to "Family Tree John James (Jack) Ryan"
(Hope this isn't confusing) but I don't know where this topic is housed, as in where/what do I look for to find it. It's not under Dublin. :'( When I go into Forum, where do I go next to go straight to that post?
-
Oh I don’t know where you are looking then.
I hope it is clearer now. It can be confusing at times on here but you will soon get used to it.
-
Hey Haywood
Thanks soooo much for your patience. I think what I'm trying to say (and not doing it very well) is if I open up the site, sign in, go to Forums - where will I find "Family Tree John James (Jack) Ryan)?
I click Forum, then where do I click next to get that particular topic/thread.? I can find the "Family Tree" John Ryan 1954, no problem - and can move along with the link - but I want to go direct to the topic/thread "Family Tree John James (Jack) Ryan. :'(
-
Hi Heywood
Thank you for your info on John & Mary which is spot on, as is your input on the census information. Sadly I couldn't seem to match location and dates with John, Nora & Fran, but I do appreciate your assistance. Thankyou

Thank you Dizzy1948. Uncle Jack did live with his sister in Killester. She was born Anne Elizabeth Ryan on 28/04/1909 in Howth Dublin. She married Patrick John Kinnahan (engine driver) 11/12/1940

I have found quite a bit of information about the County Clare family, including a marriage in Ireland and then a birth/baptism in US but sadly not John born abt 1878.
The family are soon back in Ireland where the family are having children from 1878.
As I said, it is worth noting the family as something might turn up.
It looks as though dizzy has info re Uncle Jack :)
