Post by: odbsmith on Thursday 25 March 21 13:15 GMT (UK)
Rudolphensen/ Rudolphsen or similar
I am trying to research this name for on older friend who tells me her mother told her there was a connection to this name, we believe to the Bennett part of the family who seem to be based in Hertfordshire. Possibly farmer from Germany who changed his name.

Anyone have any bright ideas??

Far too little information to work from - so a bit more please

What timescale are you looking at?

What research have you already done so we don't waste time duplicating?

What Bennett family?  Have you found a marriage between those 2 names?

My friend W said her mother told her that he was either her grandfather or G grandfather and changed his name to Bennett,  so it would be 19th century. But I can follow her family back to late 1800's. Her mothers father was Fredrick James Bennett B:3 Aug 1867 Sandrige, Hertfordshire.

I am about to check out other grandparents in case I am dealing with "chinese whispers", and really i was asking if anyone had come across this name as I am finding it difficult to find much.

Both of Frederick's parents were b Herts.  Father William was b 1834 & the 1851 shows both of William's parents were also b Herts

William's father was John Bennett b 1794 Herts so you are going to have to go a long way back to find any possible German connection
