I am trying to establish the link between my Ormond family, who are from Forfar, and the Ormond family of one of my DNA matches.
They have only got back as far as William Ormond who married Mary Gaudaur in 1892 in Nipissing, Ontario, Canada. The marriage lists his parents as William and Ellen Ormond.
Census records show that William Jr was born in Scotland around 1865; and he died in 1912.
However, I'm not having any luck finding a corresponding William and Ellen Ormond in Scotland that could be his parents or any birth record. Any help with finding these would be much appreciated.

This is confusing.
FamilySearch has a death of a William Ormond, single, born 27 January 1840, on 7 January 1912 in Thurlow, Hastings County, Ontario.
It also has a death of William Ormond, widowed, born 18 July 1823, Forfarshire, on 2 March 1910 in Belleville, Hastings County, Ontario.
Also I can't seem to find William Ormond, aged 25 when he married in 1892, in the 1901 census. (Age 25 in 1892 suggests a birth in 1866/1867, not 1864.)
So where was he in the 1901 and 1911 census; where did he die; and have you found any information at all about him before his marriage in 1892?

Here's a possibility.
1871 census in Forfar.
Amelia Lesley, 60, widow
William Ormond, grandson, 7
Amelia Young, granddaughter, 5.
Amelia Leslie or MacFarlane died in Forfar in 1876, aged 67.
William Ormond will be Charles William Ormond or MacFarlane, born in Forfar on 5 December 1863, parents Alexander Ormond and Helen MacFarlane.
Amelia Young will be Amelia Leslie Macfarlane, born in Forfar on 20 March 1866, mother Helen MacFarlane.
Speculation. William was the illegitimate son of Alexander Ormond and Helen MacFarlane. He was looked after by his grandmother until her death. Then he either went to Canada or was sent to his father's family in Canada. On his marriage he gave the wrong name for his father.

Amelia Young will be Amelia Leslie Macfarlane, born in Forfar on 20 March 1866, mother Helen MacFarlane.

I did not find one for William yet
Forfarian, I think your speculation sounds quite likely.

There won't be one.
His birth was registered as MacFarland or Ormond, and his father is named in the index on FS, which means that Alexander Ormond accompanied Helen when she went to register the birth, and signed the register to acknowledge paternity, so there would be no need for court proceedings to establish who the father was.

Good to know - i didn’t look at the birth record. :)
The 1881 census [Kinnel, Forfar] has a 16 year old William MacFarlane, agric labourer, born Brechin, Forfar. also another possibility under the name William Ormond, age 18.
The Canada census has quite conflicting dates for his emigration, so may or may not be him.

Nether did I - I looked at the IGI.
The 1881 census [Kinnel, Forfar] has a 16 year old William MacFarlane, agric labourer, born Brechin, Forfar.
Could be William Mowat McFarlane, born Brechin 13 April 1964, parents Daniel McFarland and Ann Ormond.
also another possibility under the name William Ormond, age 18.
That one is a bleacher, born in Arbroath, and in 1891 he's back in Arbroath with a wife and family.

For the purposes of clarification, as I forgot to mention it before, the William Ormond Jr I'm looking at had a daughter Winnifred Grace Ormond in Sudbury, Ontario in 1895.
