Stanley ANDERSON was born 7 Oct 1891 at or near Dannevirke, only son and youngest child of William ANDERSON and Agnes McGHIE. The family moved after this to Waiata, which is near Colyton.
When Agnes died at Kimbolton in Apr 1915, he is listed in an affadavit by his father as being aged 23 of Waiata.
Fairly certain he is not the Stanley that married Gladys PENNEY in 1916. No WW1 record either that I can see.
Has anyone come across him anywhere.
His father died in 1935 and Stanley may have left the area as I can find no burials in the Manawatu area.
Thanks.

This death might be a possibility, but no idea of location. Just age seems close.

William sold his property and had a clearing sale in 1917, so Stanley didn’t take over the farm.

So that’s the one who married Gladys Penney, who Eyesee discounts, (why?)
Looks as though he was farm manager at Wallaceville Agricultural Research centre for a long period. (Electoral rolls)

There was a Catholic Death Notice.
This one shares the plot with wife, and there is a photo of the headstone.

Death notice for son (I think) mentioned in the estate papers sent by PM, in case this is the correct family.
Added:Death notice for son's wife also sent by PM.
[Note second Christian name of daughter in estate papers; may be relevant?]

I now think you are probably correct Ian about Gladys Penney/Stanley Anderson not being the right people:
https://www.myheritage.com/names/gladys_penney
Gladys Myra Prideaux ANDERSON (born PENNEY) was born on month day 1892, at birth place.
Gladys married Stanley ANDERSON in 1916, at age 23 at marriage place.
Stanley was born on December 4 1887**, in Opoho, Dunedin.
They had one child: Unknown ANDERSON.
Gladys passed away on month day 1968, at age 76 at death place.
**There is a birth in 1887 for a Stanley Anderson and his parents are not William & Agnes.
http://www.interment.net/data/nz/wanganui_manawatu/kelvin/surnames-a.htm
ANDERSON, Gladys Myra Prideaux, Female, Age: 76y, d. 1968-03-22, died: Palmerston North Public Hospital, cre. 25/03/1968, Occupation: Widow, Address: Christchurch, Mortuary: W Cotton & Sons Limited, Cremation# 3742, Warrant# 177813, Warrant Type: Cremation
So back to square one?

Minniehaha.
Well that's wrong. There were two on the Estate papers
(the daughter btw seems to have remarried and died in 2020)

Think Gladys PENNEY is his wife.
her brother killed WW1.
see article here. names a sister Mrs Anderson of "Waiata". Fielding. ;D

Thanks everyone.
The info from Myheritage is what made me think that Gladys is the wrong one but now the article that Mckha489 has found about Mrs Anderson of Waiata is pushing me back the other way.

I think there is confusion between Stanley Anderson born 1891 and the one born in 1888 on the MY Heritage site.
1887/12436 Anderson Stanley Margaret Caleb ???
Birth date: 4.11.1887.
Birth:
1892/2236 Penney Gladys Myra Prideaux Margaret Alfred
Marriage:
1916/5260 Gladys Myra Prideaux Penney Stanley Anderson
WW1 file for a Stanley Anderson. Born Dunedin 1.11.1888. Died Dunedin 8.11.1960.
https://www.archway.archives.govt.nz/ViewFullItem.do?code=22270300&digital=yes
His wife from that WW1 file:
1939/13716 Kathleen Rose O'Connell Stanley Anderson
She is buried in Dunedin also.

That is the thing about information in trees that are on line, take them with a grain of salt, and follow up on your own verification. One of my descendents, apparently, had four marriages, two while still married, hopped over to America for a quick divorce, back to Ireland .... the person never even left Scotland! ;D

Suggestion Ian. I think it might be profitable to request a Wellington newspaper death notice look up for:
Last name ANDERSON
First name STANLEY
Age 64 Years
Deceased date 10/03/1956
Service provided Cremation
Cremation date 12/03/1956
Cemetery Crematorium
Record number 15014
This may hopefully establish which family he ties into.
ADDED: Or you could contact the funeral directors who attended to the funeral of Gladys Myra Prideaux Anderson-

Hi Ian
In addition to Mckha's find, the WW1 Army file for Russell Charles PENNEY, shows (at Image # 7), that "Mrs S. ANDERSON (S) of Kiwitea, Feilding" was the recipient of the Plaque and Scroll commemorating her brother (despatched in February 1922) .

Have not had much luck finding anything else about Stanley so have ordered the marriage printout. That will confirm one way or the other which Stanley married Gladys.

The marriage printout has arrived and this particular Stanley is the one who married Gladys. Names his parents as William ANDERSON and Agnes McGHIE. The wedding took place in Wellington but she was living in Feilding and he was at Waiata.
The tree on Geni has taken the DOB etc of the other Stanley from Dunedin
This post can now be closed.
Many thanks Minniehaha, Lucy2, kiwihalfpint and Mckha489.

Hi Ian,
I'm pleased we had managed to join all the dots; the marriage printout confirming this.
Another problem solved..... :)

Glad you got it sorted Ian.
