Hello
I have found reference to a casualty G Brooks number 5125 of the Sherwood Forresters who was (slightly) wounded May 1901 on the angloboerwar.com site.
I have downloaded the attestation papers from the National Archives (I think they are with FindMyPast or ancestry as well) for him but his number is 6125 and page 4 lists the wound and a date.
I have found a reference to the regimental diary for that day on FindMyPast, this lists the numbers wounded but not the names.
Is there any chance there are further references to the event or other casualty lists I can consult online without having to pay for another subscription for one person? I seem to be going round in circles doing google searches.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I doubt you will find anything online, might be worth contacting the regimental museum and see if they can help. they might have more detail reports or a feature in the regimental journal.

Hi
There is a reference to G. Brooks no. 5125 Sherwood Forresters (Derbyshire Regiment) on the website angloboerwar.com.
Slightly wounded at Vlakfontein 29 May 1901.
There is an account of the regiments activities here:

I suggest this :
History of the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts. and Derby Regt.) in the Boer War 1899-1902
Various prices on the Internet.

Thanks Ian, sorry for the slow reply.

George Arctic Brooks - that's quite an intriguing middle name !

Yep, still not sure of the origins; named after a ship, a battle or a discovery?
None of his siblings were given such a fancy middle name.
