Looking for obit of John Lennox, possibly named Samuel John Lennox, like grandson. John was born between 1808 and 1815 in Cranny, to father James, mother unknown. John's wife is also unknown at this point but hoping an obit might help with that. John's eldest son, that I have anyway, is Matthew born abt 1838 and died July 25, 1901 in Cranny. John's youngest son Andrew born Mar 1848 in Cranny might have his mother's name on it. Andrew had an aunt Isabella McPherson on the 1900 census in Pittsburgh as Andrew's wife Margaret Seaton has parents Samuel Seaton and Sarah Jane McPherson whose parents were John McPherson and Margaret Black who were also Isabella's parents.
Thanks for any help

I have learned that John’s wife was Sarah Jane Latimer who died July 25, 1854 in Cranny. Sarah Jane was born about 1816 in Cranny but I do not have her parents’ names.Andrew’s death certificate inPittsburg for Apr 13,1913 does not have his mother’s name on it.
As mentioned, Andrew had a great aunt Isabella McPherson who died Jan 26, 1907 in Pittsburg. I have her death certificate but not her obit. I don’t know if an obit would have valuable info in it.
Thanks for any help.

Sorry, a typo. Sarah’s death was 1864, not 1854.

Peggy,
Within 24 hours, you can use the 'strikethrough button' to change date/text on your previous post reply#1, rather than post an error update. Just add 'Edited' to the bottom of the edited post.

Suggest subscribing to a newspaper collection (Find My Past, for example, will have many of the obituaries you are looking for)- many have short term offers if you don't want 6 or 12 months. If going for short term it's a good idea to make a list of names and dates you are looking for. Also, remember to vary search terms if you don't find something as mis-spellings are common.

Thank you, KG and aghadowey. Several times, I have done 3 month subscriptions to BNA. I have found that sometimes if you are looking for a wife, the article may be under Mrs.Whoever instead of her own name.

You might want to try Find My Past next time as many of the people you are looking for seem to show up there.

I have found that sometimes if you are looking for a wife, the article may be under Mrs.Whoever instead of her own name.
The answer here is to search both her marital & maiden surnames which anyone else searching would have to do ::)

Thank you Sandra for the death notice for Samuel John. And thank you Annie for your help.
At first, when I saw Andrew’s death certificate. I thought his father might be Samuel John like Andrew’s son. Other possibilities are that it is a mistake or that the informant is confused with his maternal grandfather’s name.
