Title: Alice and John, 1888 Queensland
Post by: Neale1961 on Saturday 10 April 21 07:45 BST (UK)
Hello restorers, this one is not too faded (Hooray!), but please, are you able to do a few touch-ups  in spots, and is it possible to get rid of the yellowing splodges on the white dress?
It is only since I have scanned this photo and have taken a closer look, that I have decided it is a wedding photo. I believe Alice is holding a small bridal bouquet. There are no wedding rings on display, but she is dressed in white. John and Alice married in 1888, Toowoomba - Alice was aged 22, and John 30.
Alice is the sister to my great-grandmother Mary, whose 1883 wedding photo you restored beautifully here https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=844843.0
Thanks

Thanks so much for your help Japeflakes and Trishanne.

I've had to compress this a little to get it under the max size

and a small black and white one

(Thank you, Carol.I thought that she could be too. I'm on my laptop so wasn't sure.)

PS - there was some over drawing on her dress which was <swear words> to reduce!

I thought the lady looked like she could be pregnant.
Carol
Yes Carol, Well spotted. She was 5 months pregnant with twins – the baby girl died & the boy survived.
Alice had a sad time with her babies.
Her next pregnancy was twins again – neither survived beyond a few days.
Then the next baby also died after a few weeks.
Her last child, a girl, survived.

Hi Carol, and thank you very much. They are both lovely. I appreciate you retaining the feeling of age to the photo.
