Hi,
I found my Dad on an electoral roll in Aberdeen in the 1930’s. Some people had a capital P beside their names and he did.
I was wondering if anyone knew what this P meant?
Thanks

Postal vote :-\.
Have you scrolled back to the beginning of the register as one of the first pages should show the meaning of these 'abbreviations'

It is Parliamentary, also L for local and A for Absent.
ADDED It would mean he could only vote in Parliamentary elections and was not entitled to vote in local elections :)

Oh thanks for that, why would that be ?

Was he permanently resident there, where was he born

Born in Falmouth, family moved to Peterhead in 1933, then he studied at the University.
His digs were near to Aberdeen University.
