Title: Member of the 10th Hussars in India.
Post by: Salty on Tuesday 13 April 21 12:19 BST (UK)
Trying to help some friends with family history.

They have a J or Joe GAINES who was in the 10th Hussars during the 1930s in Calcutta area of India where he married Muriel WOODS and had two daughters there. Sadly his wife who was born in Calcutta in 1908 died there in Dec 1939.

It is believed that on leaving the Hussars he became a member of the Calcutta Police.

They have no idea where or when he was born or died. Is it possible that the 10th Hussar records would have any details. Would it be worth them spending £30 to see if his Army record could be found with such scant detail.

Any help very much appreciated.
Tom

They'll need either his date of birth or his service number in order to apply for his army papers.

Thanks, I did suspect that would be the case.
