Post by: ballydw on Tuesday 13 April 21 19:51 BST (UK)
The only information I have is that Corneilus Murphy was born June 1859 in Kilmurry Co Cork Ireland to Parents Denis Murphy & Margaret Sullivan.
He died 27th December 1930 Southern Cross Western Australia.
Would appreciate any further information . Thank you

WA bmds do not record a death at Southern Cross in 1930 for a Cornelius MURPHY.

In fact a man with that same name at Southern Cross had a horse stolen from him in 1932.

You can find his death registered on the WA BDM: https://www.bdm.justice.wa.gov.au/_apps/pioneersindex/default.aspx
Death: Cornelius MURPHY (2418/1946)

There are a couple of other deaths for that name (though none in 1930), but with the funeral notice Essie found, the age and location seem right for your man.

Also a marriage of a Cornelius MURPHY and Hazel PENN at Northampton (9/1933) - though as there are more than one you would have to get the certificate to see if it your's. (I can't see a marrige notice on trove to help.)

Here is the WW2 service record for Peter William MANN of 16 Walcott St, Mt Lawley (the cousins mentioned in death notice).
 https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/ViewImage.aspx?B=5872952

He was born 15/3/1896 in Mayfair, England and married on 2/2/1918 to Mary Anne ?

I can't see a marriage in W.A. Perhaps they married in England.

Hi Sue have been researching the Crowley connection feel sure I have located Marian known as Maryanne . Found a ship record Arriving in Albany WA 18th March 1921 Ship Demosthenes Peter William Mann, Mrs Marian Mann, Miss Jessie Mann age 2, Miss Jeanette Mann age 1. I did find a birth record for Maryanne 21st Jan 1888 Parents James Crowley Mother Kate Lordan. I have all these surnames in my lineage its just to try and tie the connection with Corneilus Murphy. The Youghal address is a puzzle if she was visiting family a possibility but if so why a Post Office address. Will keep trying to solve it. Thank you

Hi ballydw,

If you wish to go forward ....

You can find cemetery records for Peter William MANN and his wife and family here https://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/research

eg Peter https://www2.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/details.php?id=KB00168842 and Mary Ann
https://www2.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/details.php?id=KB00103556  buried together.  The grantee may be relevant to the family.

You can also find marriage info for more recent marriages than given on the W.A. BMD here

I don’t think the 1940 marriage for Jeanette is the correct one.   I found this story about JB’s sister Daisy Mann having died in 1947.  http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article252152507  (Bottom note of school sports)
And looking at Daisy Mann’s death notice it says that she was the beloved eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs JW Mann.

Lovely that your daughter lives in Perth - best place on earth.  ;D. (I was born and grew up in Perth)
