Title: Help with genealogy resources for relatives in Messina Sicily

Hello,

My grandfather emigrated to New York from San Marco d'Alunzio, Messina Italy in 1903. I believe his birth date was June 1885. Are there tools available to look for extended family members in Messina? Perhaps census info or birth/death/marriage records?

Start looking here:

There are two options to choose from:

Stato civile della restaurazione; (covers 1821-1860) and

Stato civile italiano (covers 1861-1865).

Then choose San Marco and the year. The dates above are all that seems to be covered for San Marco, but might be helpful for earlier generations. Otherwise you might have to write to the Mayor or the Church - you'll find sample letters in Italian on FamilySearch.

Hopefully, it's the right San Marco!

then
