Hey all,
Im looking for the parents of John James Beckers... can anyone help?
Here's what I know
born between 1806 and 1807 in Middlesex
married 3rd July 1831 at St John's, Hackney to Eliza Knight
Possibly had a sister called Ann? seen on the 1841 census

Like you, I was unable to find a baptism for a John that fits. However, I just want to add that, on the 1851 census, he states his birthplace as "St Marylebone, Middlesex" which narrows it down a bit.
You may have already seen this but this is interesting:
Name: Mary Ann Beckers
Gender: Female
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 31 Mar 1805
Baptism Place: St Marylebone, Westminster, Middlesex, England
Father: John Beckers
Mother: Sarah Beckers
There are a few things, which could be coincidences, that link to your John James Beckers:
- The parish - St Marylebone
- The time period - early 1800s
- The father's name - John would have probably had a son named after him
- The mother's name - John's second daughter was called Sarah (according to naming customs, the first or second daughter is often named after the mother of the father)
I don't know why but I cannot find any other baptisms for this couple. I don't know how this links to the Ann Beckers who was living with John in 1841.
Just thought I would put forward my theory! Maybe others will have more luck finding a more definitive record.

Looking into it the birth register in 1839 is his daughter Sarah Beckers and I cant actually find a birth for a Ann Beckers in 1839? ???

That's true.. Could have possibly been Sarah Ann but just dropped Ann in later life.

So i've now made a list of his children's witnesses and marked anyone who isn't an obvious relative... hoping that one might be a cousin or aunt/uncle or something to link me to a relative of John James!

Exciting times... Ann Baines!
Searching the area I found an Ann Baines wife of a gardener named Thomas Baines who in 1891 had 2 children, Emily b. 1864 & Alice b. 1868.. GRO index shows a Emily Jessie Baines mmn BECKERS ;D ;D ;D suddenly feeling more hopeful ;D
