Title: jews in nineteenth century Birmingham
Post by: greyingrey on Monday 19 April 21 15:45 BST (UK)
I dont know if this scrap of general information may be of interest to a poster...I can't find their post anymore or remember their name, but they were saying they had jewish ancestors who came to Britain in the nineteenth century and settled. in brum.

ive got a jewish. ancestor who settled in Nottingham. and one of his grandsons was born in drum around. the time the posters family came over.

id been trying. to find out what. the baby's parents were doing there when they lived in nottm and had. already found out that there was considerable jewish immigration to brum at that time...so this seems to confirm that my ancestor and his heavily pregnant wife probably went there to help or meet the newcomers...wonder if they were from the same area

It is not surprising that there were a large number of Jews in Birmingham in the 19th century - think of the Jewellery Quarter.   :-\
