Title: Owen Mahon 1851 Chorlton on Medlock
Post by: mlmcholm on Wednesday 21 April 21 17:09 BST (UK)
Hi. Could anyone help me find Owen Mahon in the 1851 Manchester census please. He was the brother to my 3x great grandmother, Catherine Mahon. Born in Ireland in about 1826, his address in the 1841 census was James Leigh St. He married Ellen White in 1843 giving his address as James St, father Michael Mahon. I have reason to believe he died in 1853 at the age of 27. Whilst I realise that the 1851 census was badly damaged, if any kind person has the resources to do a look up for me, it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks as always.

Can't find him in 1851. However  the Manchester Rate Books have him as the occupier of 26 James Street in 1850. Image on FindMyPast.

Quite a bit of the Manchester 1851 was water damaged during storage which may be why you can't find him.  What remains is on Ancestry but I can’t see a likely entry

Thanks all. My Manchester Green and Mahon families are certainly a challenge.
