Worth noting I suppose that this change only applies to England and Wales - marriage certs in Scotland and Northern Ireland already included mothers' names.
One interesting thing that I didn't realise about this change is that it will also seemingly allow for step-parents' details to be recorded as well as or instead of natural parents'. E.g. (https://www.kingston.gov.uk/births-ceremonies-deaths/changes-marriage-registration?documentId=707&categoryId=20061)
"Couples will have the option to include up to 4x parents in the schedule and subsequently their marriage certificate i.e. Mother, Father, Step Mother and Stepfather."
