Title: WW1 Maps UK
Post by: Blackburn Fossil on Friday 07 May 21 14:18 BST (UK)
Hi

I am looking for WW1 camp maps used in Heaton Park, Manchester as I am going to do some research on the 1st & 2nd City Battalions Manchester Regiment "PALS" and Heaton Park was the place they trained and left for the front from, along with other Regiments.

There are loads of WW2 but I keep drawing a blank on WW1

Any help much appreciated

Ken

There are a few sites with some stunning info and photos but nothing with a plan of the park.

Here is a cracking read https://17thmanchesters.wordpress.com/enlistment/training-in-england/?preview=true&preview_id=11493&preview_nonce=c7b53cfdfc

The above Link, is the OS Publication of 1932, showing the White Heather Camp, at Heaton Park. No Camp Buildings are shown to appear earlier, than 1932, on the OS Maps.
