Title: Apsley 1911 census records
Post by: Heatha on Monday 10 May 21 10:59 BST (UK)
Another COOK related query! I have found Herbert George COOK and his wife, Florence Annie, in the 1911 census on FindMyPast but cannot find them on Ancestry (on their next door neighbours). Is it me or does Ancestry have some records missing?

Do you want to find them again to check something or is it just a general query about missing records?

I really want to check that it isn't just me before I complain to Ancestry.

I can't see it, I have tried the reference number.  I have also looked for neighbours.  It does not seem to recognise the parish either.

Registration district 141
Enumeration district 11
Sub district 1
Piece 383

Hopefully I am missing something  :)

They are certainly not appearing for me. If you found them on Findmypast and I have found them on the Genealogist, it must be a a problem with Ancestry.

It is there on Ancestry but it is not indexed.
This is how I found it thanks to a recent tip from Nick here on Rootschat.
Card Catalogue, 1911 census, fill in piece number 7746 ( the nearest I could find on transcriptions) and registration district number 141 (from FindMyPast)
open up an image and change 46 from the address bar at the top to 50 and click the middle of the three options shown and then scroll back to image 170 of 541
Short cut
Search for Ada Tompkins b 1869 in the 1911 census and change 46 to 50

Lesson learnt for me, I was reading the wrong piece number - there are two in the long reference  ;D

Thank you so much. How do you know to change 46 to 50? That is my only question!

The piece number on FindMyPast was 7750. After getting nowhere with that on Ancestry I just put in Hemel Hempstead and the first pages of records had piece 7746.
Nick_Ips on Rootschat recently showed the way to change the number and so I did that then scrolled back to find the image with schedule 85 in the top right corner.
