Hi,
Does anyone have access to the original parish records for the above marriage which took place in August 1911 possibly in St Marys but may be other Dover. Particularly interested in the bridegrooms father, age etc.
Thanks

These are all the areas covered by the Dover RD - could be any church
https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/dover.html
6 children b 1912-1930
A tree on Ancestry shows him as Arthur Ronald Crampton b 1885 died 1955 Maidstone. Lucy is shown as re- marrying to Charles Bailey in 1935
However - the Maidstone death was Arthur REGINALD Crampton b 1888
Another tree also has him as Arthur Ronald - b 1883 Sussex died 1974 Hampshire - parents George & Rebecca nee Chester. However - that birth reg shows only Arthur as does the death??
Same tree shows Lucy as having a daughter Georgina Louvain Crampton b 1916 to George Sturgess who died in 1917 in WW1??

Thanks Carole,
The likelihood is that it was St Mary's church as most family events were performed there. The other option being a military wedding as Arthur was in the Royal Berkshire Regt. Will probably have to send for the marriage certificate as St Mary's registers on line end before 1911.
Ancestry trees are guessing which is why I need to find evidence of Lucy's husband's father.
Yes, she did have an illegitimate child, Georgina and her husband desserted her after he returned from the army so I never have evidence of them together to discover Arthur's identity. eg place and date of birth. Was hoping the age may have been on the marriage entry as well as father's name and occupation but we will see.

If he deserted her after returning from the Army - presumably he wasn’t the father of her other 4 children b 1920-1930?
Do you have her 1935 marriage cert? Does it show her as a widow or divorcee?

He should appear on the 1911 in the military then :-\. What is the source of that information

Hi Carole,
No I haven't got the 1935 marriage certificate and he definitely wasn't the father of the other 4 children even though they were registered under his surname. Her second husband Charles Bailey was living with her and Bailey is included in two of the other childrens names.

Hi Rosie,
The information is from the Dover Express dated 1919 when Lucy charged her husband for maintenance for their children.
Haven't been able to find Arthur in 1911 census. There are a few Arthur Crampton/Crumpton's and it appears he wasn't the one born in Hastings or Tunbridge Wells.

Hi, How definate is it that Arthur was in the Royal Berkshire reg. Could it have been the Royal Sussex Reg.

That newspaper report is referring to him as Arthur Ronald Crampton. It mentions that he is out of work and sick
It also mentioned that Lucy had a child by a soldier who was killed.

Arthur was listed as a private in the Royal Berkshire in the paper clipping of 1919 and on the birth certificate of his eldest daughter.
The child was Georgina and the soldier (and her father) who was killed was George Sturgess in 1917
