Title: Barfoot family from Charlton Musgrove
Post by: tempogold on Wednesday 19 May 21 07:51 BST (UK)
 Hello
Unfortunately I have discovered the name Barfoot is more popular than i had thought.

William Barfoot was baptised 4/12/1825 in Charlton Musgrove  to parents Robert --Yeoman  and Mary( her maiden name unknown).
William is on the 1841 Census age 14 with his father Robert  for Shepton Montague . Robert is shown as a Farmer . No other family shown .
There is Poll Record for 1846 Shepton Montague which lists a Robert Barfoot. Unable to find any records after this date .

William marries Eliza Ruddick in 1863  ( Parents Henry Ruddick  and Elizabeth Singer from Midsomer Norton)  William and Eliza had 4 children. I am ok with tracing William and his family forward .

But would be grateful for any information on Williams parents Robert and Mary( unknown)  Barfoot and any siblings of Williams.

Thank You .

Interesting. And wondering about the Curate from Rutland. There are some trees with Barfoots in the Rutland .

I also found a marriage--and Bond record on Ancestry for a Dorothy Barfoot, from   Shepton Montague and  Daniel Simms -so wondered if she could be a daughter of Robert and Mary. ?
The census returns for the Simms family are interesting . In 1841 In Charlton Musgrove. Other census returns say she was from Braunston, Rutland /Northamptonshire.
There is indeed a baptism 30/10/1814 in Braunston to a Robert and Mary Barfoot--not clear on his occupation --is it game keeper ?

This is great. Thank you all. always confusing when cousins(?) marry --and strange that Mary doesn't appear to be with Robert  on any of the Censuses .
Will take some time to work out all your information. But wonderful.  Thanks

Just by way of an update. My Robert Barfoot  did indeed marry his cousin Mary Barfoot --see earlier post.
Robert was the son of a  William Barfoot 1743 B Rudland d 1807 Islington ,London and Mary Alloway.
his wife Mary Barfoot is the daughter of his Uncle Henry 1751-1796 and Mary Sharpe.

For what ever reason some year's after raising most of their family in the Rutland area they move about 1824 to Charlton Musgrave to farm..  William the son mentioned in my first post was baptised there in 1825 while his brother Henry was baptised in Rutland in 1823.

I would never have made these connections without all your help. Thank You .
