Title: Help Occupation Deciphering please!
Post by: ellemmdee on Saturday 29 May 21 10:29 BST (UK)
Hi there

I've found my great grandfather Albert William Pateman on the 1901 census. He was 15 at the time and living at 43 Maryland Street, West Ham, Essex, England (now considered part of London of course).

I can't read or figure out his occupation at all - can anyone help please?! He's the fifth person down on the attached screenshot. And the census record as per Ancestry is Essex / West Ham / Forest Gate / District 37 / page 33 (I'm not sure what I can link or copy due to copyright!)

His father was a brewer's labourer and his brother a docks warehouseman.

Thank you in advance, I would love to know what this says!

Ah yes... it must be I suppose!  I had discounted Plumber because of the line between the m and the b.
Thank you very much Carol!
