Hi all, recently received this photo and just looking for more information on it based on uniform, badges etc.
Any help is much appreciated. :)

The shoulder flash is indistinct but looks as if it is Royal Field Artillery. He is a Lance Corporal and gas four good conduct stripes.
Someone else may be able to confirm or contradict that.
-
Agree with Jebber, he looks like RFA.
The chevrons are for overseas service.
First introduced in 1917 & shows he's had four tours overseas
since the outbreak of war.
He looks to have a medal ribbon it may be the MM but if so it's
in the wrong spot as it would take precedence over the others
he would receive later or it could be the 14/15 Star if this was taken
1919/20.
The patch is a Corps/Div. formation patch but I can't id it.
He looks to be wearing riding breeches denoting a Driver or
dispatch rider. Unfortunately we can't see his boots to see if he has spurs.
Do you know his name?

I stand corrected about the chevrons, should have known better. ::)

Thanks to you both, great information.
This matches with who I think it is; William Simpson, Royal Field Artillery, 107417.
He was awarded the Military Medal December 1917 if that makes a difference. Still not sure what this is for. I downloaded the diaries and tried to find more information but have lost them now.
Precious Previous thread about this at https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=798390.0
Thanks again. If anyone is able to give any further info, please do.

Appears I made a contribution to that post also.
I'll take a look at the diary.

Nothing jumps out so as MaxD said in the previous post
a significant contribution supporting the various Divs. probably
during the 3rd. Battle of Ypres Sept. 1917.
They had just moved up to C10 (top right) on this map.

Thank you for this.
It’s a shame he’s not mentioned by name but good to know more information about when and why he would received it.
