Can anyone decipher the third line of this record
I think
The first line is Andw REID & Janet GIBB ...in Lightburn
Second line ...Had their 7 th child bapt/born 25th June ???
Third line ??????? ( Don't know who James Cameron is)
Thanks in advance I hope it is my direct ancestor but I won't influence your ideas
If it's the name I can't read the words afterward

The third line has the name of the witness:John Cameron
and the child is called Elizabeth (Gibb?) Gab'r (maybe Gabriel) Parke (I think?)

On my tree its Elizabeth REID I don't know what the Gabriel Park bit could be
Her mother is given as Janet GIBB elsewhere and other children of Andrew REID seem to be baptized with mother's name as Elizabeth GIBB b 1762
I'm putting her mother on my tree as Elizabeth Janet GIBB provisionally

Yes, I think that could be.
I read it at first that Elizabeth was called Gabr. Park too but I think you are right. :)

there is also a big full stop between the Gab word and PARKs. Does it end s?

Can the pattern not be inferred from other entries on the page? For example, it looks like you've included the last line of the entry above in your snippet, which clearly shows the word 'called' and a girl's forename, followed by two names and the start of what looks like the same word at the end.

The full stops are there because the names are abbreviated and witness /witnesses both end in ‘s’. :)

I think that Gabr. Park is the other witness - so the child is named Elizabeth. :-\

Always good to have a few opinions
Some trees have her as Elizabeth Leslie REID. I dont know where that middle name came from .
I spent ages trying to work out if the word before Elizabeth was another name and what Cal at end of second line meant ....it was by looking at other records on page that i worked out cal-led. Good tip Gaffy

I've now found transcriptions (not originals) of all the preceding children and mother is transcribed as Elizabeth not Janet GIBB
So I wonder if it is a mistake or a middle name

Andrew Reid married Elizabeth Gibb in 1748, Barony.
Children baptised in Barony to father Andrew Reid
1st child baptised with mother named Elizabeth Gibb
2nd, 3rd and 4th children baptised with mother named Janet Gibb
5th and 6th children baptised with mother named Elizabeth Gibb
7th child baptised with mother named Janet Gibb
I can see no other Reid- Gibb marriage.
So perhaps Elizabeth Gibb was also known as Janet.
Or Andrew was having children with 2 different Gibb girls. :o

I.ll have to check on there & buy some more credits
as I had the first two girls Mary + Margaret as twins with same birth and baptism but it would be extremely odd if they had different mother's names

I think the trees that have given Elizabeth middle name leslie maybe a misreading of -led at the end of called .
SP has changed ive not used it for a while and find searching harder now

Mary came up on Ancestry search but turned out to be margaret
Ancestry record doesnt show original but does give birth dates from SP. Baptism records
These are the children’s baptism on SP:
Margaret 09/11/1749. Born nov 5th
Janet 02/01/1752. Christened same day
Isabel 31/05/1753. Born 29 may
James 06/04/1755. Born 31 march
Elizabeth 21/11/1757 born 20th November
Jean 20/07/1760. Born 6 July
Elizabeth 08/07/1762. Born 28th June
I think the children christened same or following day to birth may have died
obviously for another child to be named Elizabeth
But nothing is coming up in my search for deaths on Ancestry or SP
Ive bought some credits found baptisms but must be using wrong parameters.for deaths

Finding deaths prior to 1855 is rare. Especially for children the only thing you might find is a mort cloth payment by the father for a child (often unnamed) i.e. it might read something like "a child of John Grant".
Some parishes do list deaths, but most do not have records of deaths other than largely incomplete records of mort cloth payments.
Incidentally you can get back the old style search on SP - go to the "front page" and it shows up as before.

This is well before registration, and records of burials in Scotland at this time are very scant.
I did already look for you, but found nothing.
Sometimes if you are lucky in a graveyard search, you can find a family grave stone with useful information.

Albu these birth dates given on ancestry i presume are correct i looked at 3 original Baptisms and its written on the record .

Ive been looking at Elizabeth REID s children with Robert LETHAM & have seen child 12 a distant relative.who made original tree said she had 15 children .!

On the original OPR Birth Entry - ScotlandsPeople, forename Margaret is written as Marg followed by a small, high letter 't' with a full stop underneath to show it's an abbreviation. Perhaps someone has transcribed Marg as Mary, not noticing or understanding the small 't' above the dot. To be fair, there is a small space between Marg and the full stop and the letter 't' looks like a scribble.
