Title: Where to start on the Anglo-Ashanti Wars?
Post by: hunkyhywel on Tuesday 08 June 21 15:54 BST (UK)
I have discovered that an ancestor fought in the Anglo-Ashanti Wars and was awarded the Gold Coast / Ashantee Medal (Coomassie Clasp).
Where can I turn for more information on the campaigns, especially the involvement of his regiment 1/23 and 2/23 Royal Welch Fusiliers?
Thank you!
Hywel

This might be a starting point: https://www.rwfmuseum.org.uk/index.php

This is also a way in..... https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/army-regiments/

Henry Brackenbury's history of the war can be found with some digging on Google Books.
