Title: Diary > Friday 11th June
Post by: Roobarb on Saturday 12 June 21 08:56 BST (UK)
No art class as the electricity was being turned off for a number of hours in the village where the teacher lives so we couldn't have this week's demonstration on Zoom. Instead she recorded it and sent it to us on Thursday evening. I did quite a lot of things during the day after my rest yesterday.

Usual walk, it's pretty quiet these days, just me and a few dog walkers. It was quite cloudy but not as much as Thursday, and breezy, warmer than expected.

I made the tweak to my lion picture that the teacher had suggested, added a few whiskers and that was it. Put my materials away. The next project is about travelling  - places we would have gone, or have been to, or somewhere we'd like to return to. The medium is Inktense pencils, I struggled with them when we did a couple of in class but had some success with a homework piece I did during lockdown. I'll probably do something from one of my photos of Greece, I like the sharp contrasts and the light and shade.

Neatened the front lawn along the edges of the drive and watered the pots. The postie arrived with a parcel for me, had a chat with her. Repotted my tomato plant, I have some tomato feed but I'm not sure when I should start using it. Indoors for a cup of tea, started looking for something upstairs and got sidetracked, decided to give some non fiction books to the charity shop, I've hung onto them for years but it seems a bit pointless so I'll get rid. Ironed the bedding and changed the bed, I've been putting it off as it was too hot. Did yet more sorting of art materials and seemed to end up worse than when I started. Oh well, no big deal.

Glad to hear you had a productive day after your ‘rest’ day!
I’ll bet your lion pic looks wonderful and the portrait you did of your friend... I wonder if you’ve shown it to her yet....

My day was deadly dull...... the weather was warm but cloudy and windy... sadly all the beautiful flowers from our poppy have been blown all over the garden.... they have been the best blooms for a good few years... the roses are looking spectacular climbing up along the fence a real shot of pink and quite a scent when you walk past...think the sweet peas I’ve planted seem, so far, to have survived I’ll be planting the others out today as they needed a little more time in their individual pots...
Had fun watching a delivery driver with a parcel wandering around wondering where to put it... he eventually left it on next doors oil tank which he can get to over the fence up the lane.... turned out the parcel was for our friends up the lane and he’d been to lazy or confused to wander up the lane to find them.. they’d just received a picture of where he’d left it... next door are away... our friend had to get his step ladder against the fence to reach down and retrieve it!
On the delivery instructions it had said house ‘behind no 8’.....but not meaning literally!
Then I spotted another parcel later on on next doors doorstep...as our friends had been expecting two I sent them a message and it turned out to be for our other friends up the lane.... what is it with these delivery drivers... there’s a board up at the beginning of the lane with the names of the three houses up there.....
well it gave us all a laugh and brightened up the day!
House cleaning the upstairs it needed a good going over after the family visit last week... then the ironing and remake the boys beds up for next time... hopefully not as long in between as before. 9 months!!
OH watched the cricket most of the day... in the doldrums a bit not sure why...left him to his own devices ..... hopefully he’ll snap out of it...
Dinner was cod with chorizo ontop with bacon wrapped round baked in the oven with peppers and new pots and green vegs..
Watched Gardeners World.... early bed to read

I still haven't finished the portrait Caroline, my teacher keeps finding more for me to do to it! I asked my friend L why she thought that was when others had been let off so lightly, she said it's because she knows you can do it. Flatterer!

It's amazing where some of the delivery drivers think is an acceptable place to leave parcels, it's a good job you spotted them. Housework isn't much fun but at least it's out of the way. Hope your OH is feeling a bit perkier today.
