Somewhere in Transvaal South Africa.
The people who new this family are no longer with us. Photo was part of box of family photos.
We do not know the names of the people in the picture but it will be interesting to know the time period this photo was taken.

I would guess at the 1850's.
-
Thank you.
This could be Roelof Johannes du Preez born1802 and his family.
But we are not sure.

I think it's much later than 1850s. Maybe 1890s to 1920s. Jim or Carol might have a better Idea.

I noticed one of the Men is wearing a shirt, with what appears to be an attached soft collar. These became popular during the 1920s/1930s, and eventually replaced the stiff detachable collars that one tends to see in late Victorian and Edwardian Photographs.

Thank you for the interesting tip

Must say I was thin king more towards 1920s +. Seen photos of my father similarly dressed.
And the dropped waist of the young woman/girl on the left also suggests that to me.

I was looking at the dropped waist, Wiggy, and thought of the 1920s. I've seen the soft collar from 1919 onwards.
