Hello everyone,
I need some help deciphering the mother of the groom. Been doing pretty well with the french stuff recently but the handwriting on this one is not meshing with me.
Starts with the groom Guillaume Sallaud. Then lists his father who has the same name. Normally it would then say the father's occupation and then where he is from and then the mother. I think the surname is where it says Coife but I can't make out the first name. So I'm not actually sure if she is listed earlier instead? Then I think it lists where the mum is from.
Then goes into the bride Marie Bellier who is the widow of Antoine Dumas, I think then it's his occupation when alive 'master something?' Does not list her parents. Probably would have for her first marriage but records don't go back far enough unfortunately.
That's it really. Would mainly like to confirm the mothers name.
If anyone can help, it's appreciated.

Not sure if you also want this info, but just in case :
Guillaume Sallaud senior is "notaire au bourg de Péssine" - some doubt about the name of the place but you will be able to correct that if necessary
Antoine Dumas is "maitre canon(n)ier", I think.
The couple drew up a marriage settlement (contrat de mariage) with the Notaire royal Tesson on 28 September 1692. If you could get hold of it, you might find the information you want about the bride.

Thanks for taking a further look. There is 'Pessines' in the list of communes available in the archive checker. Could be it and goes back further into the mid 1600's. I could not find either of the Guillaume Sallauds deaths so maybe its in there somewhere. Did find the bride Marie's death - she died 7 years later at the age of 35.
I noticed Tesson on a lot of the marriages - never realised it something extra you could possibly find. I'll go see if I can find anything.

Oh wow. First page of my first Pessines archive and there is a Guillaume Sallaud. Not sure yet if he's any of my two, depends if either of them married again, but I have a feeling I'm in the right place.

Final little update. I found the groom Guillaume Sallaud's baptism on the 1st March 1663 to Guillaume Sallaud & Francoise Perruchon. I'm suprised at how crystal clear the writing is and also the oldest entry I now have on my tree.
