Hello
I’m struggling to locate information on James Joseph Madden and his wife Laura Patricia Madden nee McCullagh. They were married on the 12th of April 1944 in Dublin. On their wedding register it was noted that Michael John Madden was the father of James Joseph Madden and signed as witness.
Laurence McCullagh was listed as father but a Vera McCullagh signed as witness.
It is estimated that James Joseph Madden was born in 1927.
The dates of death for James & Laura are unknown. Both passed away in Dublin.
I’m looking for information on both sets of parents. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
*I have a copy of the marriage registration but too large to attach
Paul

Have you checked the Irish 1901 & 1911 censuses?
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Hi
Iv looked at the census but have no other detail on Michael John Madden to validate the two Michael John entries and neither are in Dublin which is a known area that they lived.
There is one possible option for Laurence McCullagh

Married 1944 - estimated birthyear 1927. Was he only 17 when they married?

Hi
Unfortunately this information was verbal. I cant completely rule marriage at 17 out but I can’t not think that there are other more suitable dates

Married 1944 - estimated birthyear 1927. Was he only 17 when they married?
He is a soldier on marriage so I would imagine he is older than 17yrs.

His father is Michael and the witness is Michael John - could be two different people. He also states his residence is Santry.
There is this Madden family in Santry in 1911. There is a 16 yr old Michael.

Great finds dathai.
I can’t see a birth about the same time for James Madden :-\ he might have been born after 1920 though.

My great aunt Margaret Quearney (1905-1976) married a John Madden (1905-) in 1923. She came from Santry Demesne (a former gate lodge on Santry Avenue). Another great aunt, Mary Jane Quearney (1906-1969), also from Santry Demesne, had a daughter Patricia Brangan (1932-2020) who married a James McCullagh (1923-1993). These would all be likely related.
