Think last name may be spelled "Sielas".
Daughter Ruth's marriage record.

1930 census states Emma was born 1885.

Thanks so much RJ
MY internet connection is very unstable today but i hope to be able to check out those refs
So the Emma im looking at may be SEILAS and the other one SEITAS
* No actually the SEITAS. Spelling is the most consistant .

Having her parents name led to Emma's correct birthdate 6 july 1885
I wish her husband's ancestors could be so clear
Trying to find the irish link to match a DNA link
The family search tree says he is john joseph THOMPSON jr with father john joseph THOMPSON sr born 1860 new York but all census records say father born Ireland
It gives mother as Ellen Shwin
A tree has her as Ellen Sherwin
But this couple dont seem to have Irish connections

The 1900 Census has John Sr being married in 1880.
1900 Census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MSV8-TBC
John Sr marriage to Ellen/Nellie Sherwin in 1880
Marriage: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2491-N86
John Sr. died in 1938.

Thank you
I think ive found the correct family on ancestry now
-
John Sr's death record has his parents as John Thompson & Elizabeth/Betty Winterbottom of Ireland.
I see a Bidelia Thompson born in 1865 Ireland with those parents names.
Birth:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FR9V-KRS
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QP8G-W3J8
Also, I see an Elizabeth Finley, who died in NY in 1923. She was born in 1857 with parents of the same names.
Death: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WB5-BV7
The ages are in the same time span with John Sr's, so I assume they may be his sisters?
-
Thanks again
I found john + nellie with his mother in law ellen SMITH so thought SHerwin was a mistake
She appears as Ellen Thompson sometimes as Nellie
I thought it was two different wives
On marriage surname transcribed as SHERIDEN
childrens deaths or births spelling very varied mothers maiden name Sherin Shwin sherwin first name Ellin ella nellie.
But ive not seen originals

Im cross checking everything now
There are a lot of THOMPSON women
John and Emma SEITAS had 3 girls
He.,had 7 sisters who survived into adult hood
No brothers
Tho Adelaide was transcribed as son Adly age 15 in 1905
Thanks for the family search finds
Proving the Irish link
Bedelia is an unusual name .there is a Bedelia Thompson in Lancashire England of rright age but I didn't find her or siister Elizabeth ( Finley) with parents john and Elizabeth winterbottom on irish census
-
Im now going to post on Ireland forum about more recently deceased irish THOMPSON s and see if we can join dots of paper trail to match DNA to Wicklow born John Thomas 1885 who so far is only son of john THOMPSON
1830
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=850768.msg7183366#msg7183366
Of course the link could be through one of his 7 sisters or his aunts .

Here's another male Thompson with the same parents, born in the same time frame as John.
Robert Warren Thompson

Good find RJ
Coincidence same first names as his sisters husband robert warren Finlay
There seens to be disagreement about wether the mother Elizabeth Betty Winterbottom was born in England or Ireland
I wonder if i should ask moderator to merge the two topics to save repetition but which forum should it go on ?
*Maybe keep this post for SEITAS descendants and put all neW THOMPSON refs on" Thompson of Wicklow connections "to USA topic
