Born, app. 1776 Llantwit Fadre.  Married Jane Evans 30th Jan 1806 and died 1849, both marriage and buriel were St Illytd Church, Llantwit Fadre.

I have tried freereg, no success.

  Thank you

Thank you.   Will research further, should not have limited search to Eglwysilian, Glamorgan.   A beginners mistake.

Will try again today, starting with just Glamorgan.

    Stay safe

I did see other options but the one about 12 miles away in Llantwit Major, I could not find a burial for him there or a clear marriage nearby, I did see possible burials at Llantwit Major for his parents.

Another possibility is Llanwonno, as they were living in Rydfelin Eglwyillian on the 1841 census. They were married in St Illtyds Church Llantwit Fadre and although he died in Rydfelin 1949 he was buried in Llantwit. His occ. was a boatman.
His wife Jane continued to live there until she died.

There's a Richard William of David by Mary William baptised at Llantwit Fardre 15 Apr 1771

Thank you, Sam That sounds very plausible, if you take onto account the round down of 1841 census.

This week I have been contacted by an American cousin, she is a DNA match, third cousin once removed or 4Th cousin.  Her 3xgggrandfather is William Williams born about 1762, baptised at St Gwynno, Llanwonno. Parent William Williams.  On free reg there is also a Richard Williams baptised 21 Nov 1779 parents William Williams,  plausible if you take into account rounding down of 1841 census.
Could this be him?  The 1841 census just gives counties as birth so Glamorgan covers both.

Does your cousin have the name of the abode at which her William Williams lived in Llanwonno, or his occupation ?

She has only his birth, but I found his marriage in Eglwysilan. He married an Ann Williams at St Illtyd's Church 1782 and stayed in the area, farming. My 2xggrandfather, Richards son came to live and work in Eglwysilan as a boatman, from Lantwit Fardre.

My goodness this is a long shot without a census.  With our DNA results it could be that Richard was his brother or Ann Williams  could be perhaps Richards sister.  (tried free reg, nothing of note)
  Thanks
Suzanne

If Richard is the the boatman with wife Jane in Cae Ty du, 1841 census, then this article is likely to be about him.See the very bottom of the first column starting with William John.

Thank you so much, what an interesting story.  All that money stored overnight on a boat   ::) beggers belief, considering I thought they were paupers, which Jane is on the 1851 census after Richard died. That 12 yr old Hard labour!! As a matter of interest on the next page of the census, two doors away from Richard, lives his son and family Henry Williams, my 2xggrandfather.
Thanks once again Sam, you have really gone above and beyond so appreciated.
