Title: southampton Street Ringwood c 1865
Post by: queenswood 1 on Saturday 17 July 21 17:41 BST (UK)
Can anyone please tell me where southampton Street was in Ringwood in 1865. I can see several references to Southampton Street in an 1865 Directory and would appreciate guidance as to where it was in relation to the current day roads please.

I am also aware that the current Southampton ROAD was called Up street as it left the town centre and that Poulner Lane was part of the present day Southampton Road between Broadshard Lane and the Gorley Rd junction by the white Hart.
Many thanks

Caroline

The National Archives has a document re the Ringwood Estate, on the borders of the New Forest.
In it is mentioned The Post Office, Southampton Street.

There is a nice street map of Ringwood on the National Library of Scotland website

Up Street is there but not Southampton Street.

You might find someone with some local knowledge.
