Title: Seeking Elizabeth Gamble married 1846 Tempo
Post by: tempogold on Tuesday 27 July 21 14:46 BST (UK)
 Hello
Another Ireland problem which hopefully someone can help me with.

Elizabeth Gamble married on 15 may 1846 William Hurst  at Tempo ,Church of Ireland .
 marriage Certificate on Groni.

William was a Merchant and his father William a Farmer.
Her father is James --an Inn Keeper.
Witnesses a John Ferguson and William Irvine .
Both William and Elizabeth are of Full age.

Would like to know more about Elizabeth and William .

A number of Hurst trees on Ancestry but none have this William . As he is described as a Merchant--perhaps an older man?

Grateful for any information .
Thank You .

The marriage is on Irish Genealogy-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1846/09309/5370929.pdf

A marriage announcement also appeared in the Armagh Guardian 19 May 1846 (and other newspapers)-
"On Friday last, in Tempo church, by the Rev. John Whittaker, Mr. William Hurst, Merchant, Enniskillen, to Elizabeth, second daughter of the late Mr. James Gamble, of same place."

Which means that her father, James Gamble, innkeeper, had died before 19 May 1846 and Elizabeth had an older sister.

This snippet may refer to Elizabeth's father-
Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 30 Jan.1832: On the 18th inst- Mr. James Gamble, of Enniskillen, Innkeeper.

Many Thanks for that steer. There is a note for him on Find a grave. Died aged 29 . Wife was Mary. How Tragic.
Wonder who William Hurst was --such a popular name in Co Fermanagh but I wonder how many were Merchants.
