Title: Police Courts
Post by: Poppy17 on Sunday 12 September 21 15:09 BST (UK)
on 22 November 1850 my lovely relative was brought before Hull Police courts for stealing a bed from his brother.  He admitted to this by saying he had paid 2s towards it.  I found this in the Hull Packet but does anyone know where I could find the outcome of this misdemeanor.  The article ends when he admits to it. It actually reads like an old fashioned comedy show.

Welcome to Rootschat Poppy

Have you checked the 1851 census to see where he is living then?  He may have been given a fine but the paper didn't bother to mention it.

Hi Poppy,

Sounds like an interesting family dispute. Hull History Centre (city archives) has the minute books from the police court. The index is online and the volume covering November 1850 is C DPM/1/48.
