Welcome to Rootschat  :D

Could you tell us when and where your father was born?  Do you have any names, dates and places of birth for your grandparents?

That information would help in trying to find these people.

OK if your dad was born in 1963 then presumably he is still in the land of the living?  Rootschat has a policy of no living persons to prevent spamming etc.

His birth certificate would tell you the names of his parents and from that you should be able to find your grandparents marriage record.

Are the grandparents still alive?

Ok, that's fine.  Do you wish to see if Mum has your Dad's birth certificate?  That would tell you his parents names.

I found that old reference that you were referring to.  There were two, one from Lochrane and the other from Lee1986.  This is where the post is:-

It seems they were only on that once.  Unfortunately you can't send a message as they only did the one post.

Have you tried to find any reference to William's death?  Either through the newspapers or a death registration?

With newspapers you would need to access them perhaps via the local library where he died?  Do you have any clue as to where he died?  The suggestion is around 1997/98 so that would be a starting point for searching the papers.

Another alternative is to write to a suitable newspaper appealing for information.

I see that you posted on the topic that I flagged up. If Lee or Lochrane still have active email addys, then they would be notified of activity on that topic.

In some ways you are looking for a needle in a haystack  ::)

Try and get as much information as you can from your mum.
