The uniform looks like the Gordon Highlanders & in the period between the Boer War & WW1. Look at the link: Scroll down to the photo of the 5 soldiers.

I can't help with the uniform, but my initial observation was that the men in both photos appear to have a bit missing from the top of their right eyebrow, left as we look at it. I know ::), I notice the strangest things ;D

The man on the right (as we look at it) has different earlobes.
The man on the left (as we look at it) is very similar to the individual photo. There appears to be a difference in the length of the nose, but this might be a result of the head being tilted higher.
ADDED - I am far from being an expert on military uniforms and insignia, but the Gordon Highlanders looks like a good bet to me.

Good afternoon,
The snake buckle normally indicates a militia batt rather than regular I believe.

He is wearing a 1915 pattern tunic with a leather belt suggesting a war raised battalion.
He may be Cameron Highlanders I would suggest the Cameroians which was worn on a black silk rostette which you can see the frayed edges on in the photo. They were Glaswegian based.

Not a Cameronian, they never wore kilts
