Hi,
Can anyone look up the following family please? I have them in Temple Guiting in 1851 so am assuming they were there in 1841 :)
Dowdeswell, William born c1787 - farmer
He was a widower in 1851 but his wife could still have been alive in 1841 - her name was Sarah
I'm not sure how many of his family would have been with him in 1841 - but these are the ones who could have been:
Mary born c1836
Charles born c1822
John born c1820
William born c1817
Benjamin born c1814
There is also Anne Martin born c1819 - who I think was William's step daughter, she is down in 1851 as his daughter in law.
If any of the above are living at different places in the same area in 1841 I would love to have information on them too if possible ;D ;D
William snr was my ggggrandfather.

Thanks for such a prompt response to my posting - I'm quite breathless ;D ;D
Can I have the information about the Griffins who Benjamin was living with please? I only have Benjamin on the 1881 census - Griffin was the name of William's first wife (my gggggrandparents William and Ann Griffin) I have very little information on their family.
The information on Mary Dowdeswell might be useful - Sarah died between 1841 and 1851 so Mary could well have been living elsewhere if Sarah was ill - or am I getting carried away? ;D

The John at Didbrook is a possibility - I have some Dowdeswells living there in 1881.

On second thoughts, that doesn't look like 'my' John, I hadn't noticed that he wasn't born in the county ::) - 'my' John was born at Temple Guiting. Could you possibly give me info on the other two Johns please? ;D
I'm really grateful for all of your help - it moves me on quite a bit (especially with the Griffin link).
