Title: Joshua Wormleighton - Guilsborough/Clipston Northamptonshire
Post by: Kane_14 on Monday 25 October 21 23:36 BST (UK)
Hi all,
I’ve got a 5 x GG (Joshua Wormleighton) who I can’t find any evidence of his birth. According to the 1841 census he was born in Guilsborough in 1786, but I’m really struggling to find anything and would really like to try and find his parents. I can take an educated guess as to who his father is, but I’d rather find some actual evidence.

Having exhausted the online route, I’m assuming the records office is the next logical place for the Parish records but thought I'd put it out on here to see if anyone can help.

Many thanks,

Kane

In Guilsborough there was a Samuel Wormleighton (widower) who married Mary Smith in 1779 - presumably he would be your educated guess?

Samuel married Jane GREEN 14 Apr 1773 Welton
His Occp Miller, abode Kilsby

Jane was buried 28 Dec 1784 Kilsby (wife of Samuel on record)

Samuel was buried 12 Sep 1830 Guilsborough age 77 (c 1753)

Both on FreeREG

I cant see any Bapt on there with a Father Samuel though (may not be transcribed yet)

If Samuel left a Will he may name Joshua as his Son.

Trish :)

Thanks Trish and Shaun, that's great. Samuel is my educated guess, so its good to know I'm not alone.

It looks like Samuel has at least two marriages to Jane and Mary. I'll check out and see if he left a will.

Thanks again,

Kane
