Title: Looking for Alexander J Earsman, b. 1898 Cobar, New South Wales.
Post by: johnbarr on Wednesday 27 October 21 11:18 BST (UK)
Birth Index, 1788-1922 records his parents as James Earsman and Mary W Earsman but I can find no further records of this person.
His father James was convicted of many crimes, including murder, so it's possible Alexander changed his name or perhaps he died as a child?
I would be grateful for any comments or suggestions that might give us a clue what happened to this child.

An Alexander Joseph Earsman, b. 1915 was related but not the same person.  8)
TIA.

Hello Robert,
Many Thanks for your helpful replies.
The above details for an Alexander J Earsman seem to be at variance with the details from the cemetery which state quite clearly this man was the one born in 1915, son of Henry and Margaret  ??? ???

The information on Find a Grave is user submitted - anyone can add information, and it is sometimes unreliable.  Just use the NSW online Registry indexes.

EARSMAN, ALEXANDER JOSEPH

Thanks for that confirmation that the man who died 1975 was Henry and Margaret's son, Debra.

But it's the son of James and Mary, born 1898, that I'm trying to find. No records so far after his birth, so I'm wondering if he died as an infant?

Hi there,

Is Alexander noted on the birth certificate for the youngest child to the couple?

Is this the youngest?   born 7 February 1904, William, son of James and Mary W EARSMAN, birth registered Condobolin .  Ref 2376.

The deputy registrar was required to ask for the names and ages of the then living children, and the gender only for those who had succumbed.

If you have NSW birth cert (or official transcription) for any child of the couple born AFTER Alexander, this detail should be on that document.

Is this your family?

NSW BDM births
20438/1898    EARSMAN Alexander J  parents James / Mary W  @ Cobar
33692/1900    EARSMAN George        parents James / Mary W  @ Narromine
2376/1904      EARSMAN William H     parents James / Mary W  @ Condoblin
27928/1907    EARSMAN Isabella J     parents  James / Mary W  @ Peak Hill
41582/1910    EARSMAN Reta M         parents  James / Mary W  @ Nymagee
48400/1914    EARSMAN Pansy M       parents James /  Mary W  @ Cobar
7701/1918      EARSMAN John F         parents James /  Mary W  @ Cobar

NSM BDM deaths
14716/1960    EARSMAN Mary Wesley  parents NOT known  age 84y  @  Coonamble

Birth certificate for a child born after Alexander J, 1900, will record previous issue.
John F EARSMAN, born 1918, would seem to be the last born, and would be useful to see if it records, as previous issue, Alexander to be alive or deceased.

Death certificate for a Mary Wesley EARSMAN would record children born to her...likely by name and age, with reference to children deceased at the time of her death.

Death certificate for a William EARSMAN would record children born to him...likely by name and age, with reference to children deceased at the time of her death.

A big 'Thank you' to majm and wivenhoe, too  :D

I didn't know about the bc showing details of previous issue. That wiould be very helpful. I'll have to follow up on that.
