Hi, I've just discovered that a relative of mine was admitted to the above in 1900 aged 8 and died there ten years later. I'm trying to find any archives. Does anyone have any ideawhere I could look?
-
They will probably be at Wakefield Archives -- part of West Yorks Archives. You could contact them via their website to check.

It is posh flats now
-
Collin -- do you mean the Asylum or the Archives is/are posh flats?
-
It was later called Stanley Royd and Wakefield Archives do have the records
-
The Asylum is posh flats, the Archives is a new building
-
Thank you for clarifying.
-
The new archive building is called The West Riding History Centre.
Stanley Royd opened in 1818 and closed 1984
-
Thankyou for your help everyone.

Hi,
There are 643 Males and 249 Females photographs of Stanley Royd Asylum on Yorkshire Burials Website. https://yorkshireburials.uk/
Once you have Registered it is free. Go to Gallery then the drop down menu on the left and click Misc. Then scroll down to Stanley Royd.
Good Luck

Lynn - thank you for the link, but as I was registered with Yorkshire Indexers, I am being told my email address already exists -- BUT also being told that you have to re-register on this site - and then I can't.
What a shame -- it looks to be a brilliant site. I'll wait a while and see if this problem gets resolved.

I've always found the Yorkshire Burials/Indexers people to be very quick to respond to problems and queries, but I wasn't sure from your post whether you'd already contacted them or were just going to wait and see if things changed. If the latter, I'd recommend asking if they can sort it out for you.

Thank you Arthurk -- I WAS just going to wait (don't like being a nuisance). However I may take your advice and email them.
Thank you again for taking the trouble to reply to my message.
