Hi, I am looking to make contact with anyone researching the Waldock family from Huntingdonshire and Bedfordshire in the 1700's and 1800's. My gggrandfather William Marriott Waldock was born 6 November 1830 at Tetworth Huntingdonshire to David William and Frances Lucy (nee Marriott).
William Marriott married Frances Roberts and they came to Australia in 1853.
William Marriott had a brother Henry David, who married Frances Ellen Gray.
Cannot find any information on the Marriott side of the family.
First time user of this site, so any information would be appreciated. Many thanks.

There are very few Parish registers for Tetworth/stotford on line.
Marriage 1.1.1829 for David and Frances, could not find in Church Records, however there is a report in The News (London) published 5.1.1829:-
On the first inst., at Everton Church, Bedfordshire. Mr. David Waldock, of Stotford to Miss Frances Lucy Marriott of Tetworth, Huntingdonshire.
The Church would be St. Mary’s, Everton, Bedfordshire.
The only Census, on which Frances Lucy appears prior to her death is 1841. She is Resident in Tetworth, Huntingdonshire and states she was not born in County of Huntingdonshire however she may not have been born in Tetworth. Her age is 50 due to rounding down of ages in the 1941 census she would have been born between 1787 - 1791.

I have Frances Lucy Marriott being born 5 April 1802 at St Ives Huntingdonshire. Her baptism record shows her parents as Joseph and Sarah. To date I haven't been able to find any information about her parents, so this line is at present a dead-end.
Do you have any information regarding the Joseph and Sarah?

Sorry but this information does not tie up with the census info or burial record. It is just a birth record for a Lucy Marriott and there are many.
In 1841 she gives her age as 50, rounded down by up to 5years, born Huntingdonshire.
On FindMyPast there is a burial transcript by Huntingdonshire Family History Society
BURIAL
10th January 1847 at Everton cum Tetworth
Frances Lucy Waldock. aged 55 born 1792.
This ties in with age recorded in 1841, but not with a birth of 1802!
On the 1841 census, William born 1830 is not shown at home, however there is
William Waldock aged 10 at school Market Place, Potton Bedfordshire, headmaster is a Phillip Chapman aged 40.

Hello
For what it's worth the couple in Tetworth having children in the 1790's is Samuel and Sarah Marriott.
No sign of a marriage or baptisms for any of their children but there are burials.
Does make me wonder if the baptisms for Tetworth are not on line?

Many thanks for all your information. I agree Frances Lucy must have been born c.1792, and I wonder if some parish records of the Marriotts have been lost. Of interest is that the house keeper to David William and Frances Lucy Waldock was a spinster Mary Shelton. On her death in 1858 her effects were granted to one Samuel Marriott, of Royston Cambridgeshire, the cousin and one of next of kin of the deceased. So perhaps the Samuel and Sarah Marriott are the link between the two families. Thank you Cinderdrinker.
I see on the 1841 census that William is away at school, and Henry the brother is at home. Would the school have been a boarding school or just a day school? Not sure how far Potton is from "Green man Farm" Tetworth.
