Title: A location I can't decipher
Post by: Llanfihangel on Wednesday 24 November 21 10:09 GMT (UK)
Hello All,

Here is a record of the burials of Sophia Jane, a daughter of George Games and probably his wife  Elizabeth Games, in the Talgarth Breconshire parish records.
The family seems to be distinguished from other Games families in the area by a notation in parentheses.
It is almost certainly a location, part of Talgarth or maybe a manor.
I would be very grateful for any help in identifying the words circled in the attached...

Thanks!

Llanfi  :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Not that it helps the translation but the burial records are from the adjacent St Peter, Glasbury

I agree that it begins:  Cliro_

I think the last letter is w, although it's not certain.

I agree it is written Clirow. Modern spelling is Clyro. 8 miles from Talgarth, near Hay-on-Wye.

*not listed as far as I can see but my eyes are not too good at the moment.

Hello All!

Thank you for the Clyro deciphering!!!! It is exactly where it should be, near Talgarth and Glasbury,
I would never have guessed...

All the best, and please take care!
